Four Weddings co-stars Hugh Grant and Andie MacDowell reunited 22 years on
There was a mini ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’ reunion in Los Angeles overnight as co-stars Andie MacDowell and Hugh Grant appeared on stage together at the Hollywood Film Awards in West Hollywood, California.
Andie MacDowell, who played Hugh Grant’s star-crossed lover in Richard Curtis’ seminal 1994 rom-com, was on hand to present her former co-star with the “Hollywood supporting actor award” for his role in ‘Florence Foster Jenkins’.
Accepting his award from MacDowell, who was the face of skincare expert L’Oréal for many years, Grant quipped, “I’m just depressed at how much better preserved you are than I am after 22 years. Do you use any special creams or anything like that?
“It’s amazing. You’re still a southern peach and I am, according to Twitter, a scrotum.”
Four Weddings and a Funeral’ was a huge hit for both actors in 1994. It quickly became the highest-grossing British film of all time (that honour now belongs to ‘The King’s Speech’), earned two Academy Award nominations (Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay it lost both to ‘Forrest Gump’ and ‘Pulp Fiction’ respectively), and it won 4 BAFTAs – Best Film, Best Direction for Mike Newell, Best Actor for High Grant, and Best Supporting Actress for Kristin Scott Thomas.
At the Hollywood Film Awards Grant received his prize gratefully saying, “I almost never get a prize and I’m so pleased with this one. It will not be in my loo or used as a doorstep.”
